Rebuilt Better-Half.ai's chat interface from the ground up, iMessage-inspired, with full backend continuity and a production-grade embeddable widget.
Context
Better-Half.ai's core product is conversational AI, but the chat interface didn't reflect the intelligence and emotional clarity of the underlying system. The redesign had to feel intuitive, match the AI's personality, scale under real-time load, integrate with all existing backend systems, and embed cleanly into external platforms.
What I built
- Complete UX/UI redesign inspired by Apple iMessage: clean conversational flow, modern minimal aesthetic, trust-building visual hierarchy.
- Migrated the chat to a Next.js client-side architecture for cleaner separation of concerns and faster iteration.
- Integrated all existing backend APIs and built new backend integrations for real-time chat, AI response handling, and message-state sync.
- Real-time messaging infrastructure: WebSockets where applicable, polling fallback for reliability.
- Auth + session improvements: secure session persistence across reconnects and refreshes.
- Packaged the chat as a standalone embeddable widget delivered via a single script tag, with strict isolation against host CSS and JS.
